The Max Planck Institute for Computer Science in Saarbr\"ucken has a position
open for a senior research group leader (C3) beginning in January
2003. An earlier or later starting date is also possible.

The six-year position is in Algorithms and Complexity group of Prof. Mehlhorn.
Information about the group can be found under http://www.mpi-sb.mpg.de.

Applicants should be young researchers (at most 35 years old) interested
in conducting independent research with a focus in the area of algorithms,
e.g., complexity theory, algorithmic geometry, combinatorial optimization,
parallel or distribued computing, data structure, networks, etc.

The holder of this position will lead a research group within the
Algorithms and Complexity working group. The current research groups
are: Software Systems, Assembly Planning and Simulation, Algorithms for
Advanced Models of Computation, Computational Geometry, Integer Linear
and Constraint Programming, and Foundations. The Max Planck Institute works
closely in cooperation with the Computer Science Department of the Saarland
University. Thus there is the possibility to teach, and an interest in
teaching is desired.

The Max Planck Institute strives to increase the number of women in areas
where they are underrepresented. Women are therefore explicitly encouraged
to apply. Applications from people with handicaps are also encouraged and
preferred among applicants with equal abilities.

Please send your application, including copies of your five best
publications before July 15, 2002 to:
