			   Technical Session on

Algorithms and Applications in Computer Graphics and Visualization

		        in conjunction with the

11th International Conference on WSCG International Conference in Central Europe on

Computer Graphics, Visualization and Computer Vision

			 February 3 - 7, 2003

     ============================================================

Overview:
---------

The concentration of this Technical Session is in the realms of
applied methods and algorithms in visualization and computer graphics,
with the special emphasis on scientific visualization and program
representation. The sequential counterpart of these topics have long been
the interest of researchers. However, many of the algorithmic aspects arising in a variety of applications, abd their implementation, still remain
open. This topic offers the opportunity to discuss problems and
solutions in the area, to identify new issues, and to shape future
directions for research, as well as to help industrial users apply
developed techniques.

Topics of Interest:
-------------------

Topics of interest of the Technical Session include, but not limited
to:

- scientific visualization
- image processing
- pattern recognition
- computational geometry methods
- geographical information systems rendering
- surface meshing
- template matching
- filtering techniques
- algorithms in computer vision
- visualization in computer modeling and simulation
- visual program representation
- visualization and communication
- visualizaiton in education
- computational geometry
- other related areas

Paper Submission:
-----------------

Prospective authors are invited to submit their draft paper (extended abstract) to the following e-mail address: marina at cpsc.ucalgary.ca by the due date, October 10th, 2002. Full version of the paper is due November 10th, 2002. Papers must not have been previously published or currently submitted for publication
elsewhere.

Electronic submission is required. When
submitting via e-mail, the preferred formats are:

   o Adobe PostScript

   o Adobe PDF

o DVI (please include all graphics files)

o LaTeX (please include any non-standard style files or class
     files, and all graphics)

Papers in Microsoft Word format are also acceptable. Should the
submission for a paper contain more than one file, please submit them
as a GZIP'ed or 'compress'ed Tar archive (i.e.: either as a .tar.gz or
.tar.Z file).

Publication:
------------

The Technical Session proceedings will be published in the Journal of WSCG.

WSCG Conference Series:
------------------------

The 11th is a prestigious and highly-recognized yearly event in the area of computer graphics, visualization and computational geometry, attracting leading researchers in these areas. Conference is organized by Vaclav Skala, University of West Bohemia, Czech Republic, and Honorary Chair: Jack E.Bresenham, Winthrop University, USA.

Conference proceedings will be processed by: INSPEC, ISI with selected papers published in the Journal of WSCG. The conference is co-sponsored by Microsoft Research Ltd.(U.K.) , Microsoft CR, University of West Bohemia together with other research centers, international associations, and international research groups.
