SoCG Test of Time Calls for Nominations

2024

The SoCG Test of Time Award, instated four years ago, recognizes papers published in the Proceedings of the Annual Symposium on Computational Geometry (SoCG). An award will be given to a paper published at SoCG no later than 2004. More than one paper may be selected for the award.

Nomination Procedure
Anyone in the computational geometry community may nominate a paper by submitting the nomination via e-mail to socgtot@gmail.com with a subject line of SoCG Test of Time Award. The nomination should contain a brief explanation of the impact of the nominated paper(s).The deadline for submitting the nomination is February 15, 2024.

Selection
The winners are selected by a committee appointed by the SoCG steering committee. For 2024 it consists of

In selecting the Test of Time Award, the Committee will pay particular attention to long term impact. This impact can come in many forms and some possibilities are: (i) to open up a new area of research; (ii) to introduce new techniques; (iii) to solve a problem of lasting importance. The selection will be announced by March 15, 2024.

This is the fifth SoCG Test of Time Award. The winners of the previous awards can be found here. The 2024 award winners will be presented at CG Week 2024, to be held in Athens, Greece, June 11-14, 2024.

2023

Anyone in the computational geometry community may nominate a paper. To do so, please submit the nomination by either filling this form or sending your nomination via e-mail to: socg.tota.2021@gmail.com with a subject line of SoCG Test of Time Award. The nomination should contain a brief explanation of the impact of the nominated paper(s). The deadline for submitting the nomination is January 15, 2021.

If the committee finds that circumstances justify this, it may select more than one paper for the award. The committee may select papers other than those that are nominated.
The selection will be announced by February 28, 2021.

This is the first SoCG Test of Time Award and it will be an annual award. The 2020 award winners will be presented at CG Week 2020.

The newly instated SoCG Test of Time Award recognizes papers published at the Proceedings of the Annual Symposium on Computational Geometry (SoCG). An award will be given to a paper published in SoCG no later than 2000. More than one paper may be selected for the award.

Nomination Procedure
Anyone in the computational geometry community may nominate at most one paper. To do so, please send nominations to: socg.tota.2020@gmail.com with a subject line of SoCG Test of Time Award by December 15, 2019.
The nomination should contain an explanation of the impact of the nominated paper(s), including references to follow-up work.

The winners are selected by a committee appointed by the SoCG steering committee and for 2020 it consists of
